Heiner Kamps, current Chairman of the Board and founder of Kamps AG, will leave the Board but continue his work for the largest European bread and bakery product company as a business consultant with a long-term contract. Heiner Kamps: Guido Barilla and I agreed immediately after the take-over that I will have to continue to play an important role in the business. But my entrepreneurial style would not fit the role of a Chairman in a Group company.» As from January 1, 2003, Heiner Kamps will be advising the Group on strategic issues such as future markets and potential international acquisitions. In this role we make best use of his entrepreneurial abilities and skills and secure his long- term involvement and contribution to the company.» The new Chairman of the Board of Kamps, Dr. Michael Kern, joins Kamps from Europcar where he headed the German operation as well as serving as Chief Executive Officer of Europcar International S.A. The 47-year-old, who has a degree in economics, has demonstrated his integration talents in a group which has successfully expanded in Europe. His focus at Europcar was on the targeted growth of the company’s market position. He previously gained extensive experience in the consumer goods sector holding various leading positions at Mars Inc. and Benckiser Group.
