Kolbenschmidt Pierburg again successful
The Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group, which belongs to the Rheinmetall Group,
managed to lift its 3Q/2004 sales over 3Q/2003 by 3.1 percent to EUR 1,465
million. Adjusted for parity and structural effects, this is a rise of 5.1
percent. All five divisions of this global auto industry supplier contributed
to the success by boosting their sales.
By the close of Q3/2004, the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group’s 9-month EBIT
reached EUR 107.5 million (up from EUR 63.4 million). This solid earnings
progress was driven by all the divisions and results chiefly from added sales,
the payback of restructuring programs and a favorable product mix that, for
example, addresses the ongoing diesel engine trend in Western Europe.
At September 30, 2004, the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group employed a virtually
unchanged workforce of 11,512 (up from 11,488).
Assuming that the input and output markets remain steady, Kolbenschmidt
Pierburg expects Q4 growth and earnings likewise to continue upwards. For the
full 12 months of 2004, EBIT and EBIT margin predictions are well above the
figures for 2003. Together with the expected earnings uptrend, Kolbenschmidt
Pierburg’s strictly applied investment and working capital policies will lead
to a sharp rise in ROCE and another upswing in net liquidity.
