end of ad-hoc-announcement (c)DGAP 07.11.2001
Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
Met@box AG continues restructuring with signing an Agreement with Deutsche
Telekom AG
Hildesheim, November 7th, 2001. Following the continous implementation of the
restructuring process the Hildesheim-based Technology company Met@box AG of
Hildesheim, Germany has signed a deal with Deutsche Telekom AG to enable a
further marketing of their turnover yielding subtechnology.
Both parties agreed to transfer the existing contract about the development of a
total of new BOT Inserters by Berlin-based company Rohde and Schwarz enabling
Met@box AG project customers to spread large volumes of Data cost effective via
the horizontal blank interval of the analogue TV signal, to a long-term finance
agreement.
The decisive advantage for Met@box AG for the new deal is the fact that initial
obligations of 2,7 Mio. DM resulting out of development and production was
reduced to 2,23 Mio DM.
The patented technology BOT (Broadcast Online Television) enables Project
Customers, to link digital Data to a standard TV signal thus transferring Data
on Piggyback with the TV signal via Cable or Satelite to any household. The
transfer of text and graphics is equally possible as is drawings, video and
audio files. The kind and number of endusers is likewise no object. The System
can be used for market research and promotional purposes as well as spreading
any kind of information.
The approach to BOT is very simple: the respective provider creates Data which
will be processed at a central Point and consolidated with information of other
content-providers. This data signal will then be forwarded without the need to
establish a costly internet-connection to a TV and/or a Satelite Uplink
Station to be nearly simultaneously be broadcast to the TV Set and the User.
Nearly all Countries do have TV Signal coverage and therefore there is no need
to establish new distribution structures thus saving provider and customer
considerable expense.
