– 2001: PixelNet AG realized for the first time in the full year
a positive result of 3.0 million EUR Net Income
– 2001: Earning figures under plan – break even point clearly exceeded
Wolfen, February 2, 2002 – PixelNet AG (Neuer Markt: PXN) – Multi channel
provider in online and offline sectors of photography was according to
preliminary figures, for the first time, able to achieve a positive yearly
result of 3.0 million EUR in business year 2001 (ending December 31). Earnings
for the concern before interest and taxes (EBIT) came to 1.5 million EUR with
concern revenues reaching 218 million EUR. The subsidiary Photo Porst was
consolidated on February 19, 2001. In business year 2000 the concern showed a
loss (EBIT) of -8.9 million EUR with revenues of 22 million EUR.
According to preliminary figures for the fourth quarter of business year 2001
the group will achieve revenues of 61 million EUR and an EBIT of 1.3 million
EUR. This in comparison to the previous year when the concern showed revenues of
8.4 million EUR and a loss (EBIT) of -0.8 million EUR. In contrast to the
general tendencies in the branch, PixelNet AG exhibited strong development in
the first nine months, nonetheless, it was not able to completely avoid the
downturn in the consumer sector which effected the branch as a whole. Although
the concern was able for the first time to show a positive result, it was not
able to achieve the projected revenue plan of 222 million EUR or the profit
projection of 3.5 million EUR. This can be attributed to business developments
in the fourth quarter which did not meet expectations as well as a shift of
extraordinary income to the first quarter of 2002. Due to these developments as
well as the premises which were a result of the completed strategic cooperation
agreements, the company is presently reworking the plan for the current business
year as well as for business year 2003. The parameters will be presented at the
annual results press conference, which takes takes place on March, 19, 2002.

Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
In the previous business year PixelNet was able to successfully set a course for
the continuing market advancement of the company. Not only was the
integration of Photo Porst successfully completed, especially the operating
business was further expanded. Inventory management at Photo Porst was optimized
by the introduction of a highly efficient category management system which led
by years end to a 30 percent reduction of the average inventory. The fact that
all contracts with Photo Porst AG franchise partners were continued underlines
the success of the completed integration.
The completed cooperating agreements in 2001 are a milestone for PixelNet AG
The shop-in-shop concept with the telecommunications provider debitel
previously announced in November 2001 was implemented at all 45 identified Photo
Porst outlets. Additional locations will be investigated for 2002. Initial
indicators for the cooperation with Kodak are also positive. The test phase for
the joint internet platform for digital photography services is planned for the
current quarter 2002.
In addition, the company has been able to cement a market share of 10percent in
the market for image prints in spite of the current negative trend in the
photography sector. The development of the multi-media image communication
sector will play a major role in the future, along with the photography
services.
