TA Triumph-Adler AG shows its strengths despite difficult economic conditions –
Sales increased in the first nine months – Focusing strategy advancing rapidly
Nuremberg/Grünwald – November 19, 2001: As of September 30, 2001, the TA
Triumph-Adler Group had increased its revenues by 8.9% to EUR 523.3 m (previous
year: EUR 480.4 m). The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation
and amortization) was EUR 57.6 m, slightly below the level of the previous year
of EUR 65.3 m. This result includes the gains on divestments already realized
of EUR 38.0 m (previous year: EUR 29.1 m), and EUR 10.0 m for the provision for
restructuring in the TA Beteiligung division for the French toy manufacturer,
Majorette. The Group result after taxes improved considerably, from EUR – 18 m
to EUR – 3.0 m. The cash flow increased in the reporting period to EUR 54.5 m
(previous period: EUR 43.3 m).Both the business segments of the Triumph-Adler
Experts § Output core division performed positively, despite the difficult
market conditions. As of September 30, 2001, the core division contributed
sales of EUR 291.3 m (previous year: EUR 278.8 m), around 56% of Group sales.
The EBITDA increased to EUR 29.9 m (previous year: EUR 23.5 m). Adjusted for
the discontinued direct sales operations of UTAX that were still included in
the previous year’s figures, and for the accompanying restructuring costs for
this, sales grew by 9.3% and the EBITDA rose by 11.6%.
Revenues in the TA Beteiligung division amounted to EUR 232.0 m (previous year:
EUR 201.6 m). delete The EBITDA generated by the division amounted to a total
of EUR 40.2 m (previous year: EUR 53.2 m). Adjusted for the gains on
divestments of EUR 38.0 m included in these figures (previous year: EUR 29.1m),
and for the restructuring provision for Majorette, the result was a drop in
operating income of EUR 11.9 m).
Outlook 2001: In light of the increasingly difficult economic environment, the
Board of Management is expecting an increase in sales for the Triumph-Adler
Experts § Output core division of 7% to approximately EUR 410.0 m (previous
year: EUR 383.3 m), on an increased EBITDA up 8.5 % to approx. EUR 42.0 m
(previous year: EUR 38.7 m). The company anticipates an EBITDA for the TA
Beteiligung division (before Central division expenses) of EUR 62.0 m (previous
year: EUR 87.2 m). This figure includes gains on divestments amounting to EUR
50.0 m, of which EUR 38.0 m had already been realized by September 30, 2001.
