Revised Earnings Forecasts – Relocation of Majorette Production to Asia – Change
of Dividend Policy
Nuremberg/Grünwald, October 25, 2001: TA Triumph-Adler AG is revising its whole-
year forecast for 2001 for the Triumph-Adler Experts § Output division, due to
the overall economic recession. The sales volume of this division will amount to
approx. EUR 410 million following the EUR 383 million of the year before
(previous forecast for 2001: EUR 450 million). The EBITDA is expected to
increase from EUR 38.7 million of the year before to EUR 42 million; the
previous forecast was EUR 47 million.
One primary reason for this is that corporate acquisitions planned for the
second half of 2001 will be postponed to the coming financial year. This will
take into account the uncertainty that the recession is causing with regard to
valuations and forecasts for the takeover targets.
The French toy manufacturer Majorette, part of the TA Beteiligung division,
plans to relocate its Lyon production capacities to Asia, provided that on-going
negotiations with staff representatives on an agreement regulating closure are
successful. The closure will affect around 230 employees and will result in the
recovery of sustained profitability of Majorette.
This restructuring will result in a one-time charge against the results of the
TA Beteiligung division in 2001. The contribution to earnings (EBITDA) of the TA
Beteiligung division – including planned gains from divestments – is expected
to reach EUR 62 million (previous forecast: EUR 75 million).
In view of an acceleration of the expansion program at Triumph-Adler Experts §
Output core division, TA Triumph-Adler AG plans to change its dividend policy.
To strengthen equity financing, the dividend ratio of the past is to be
substantially reduced.
