Berlin, June 27, 2002. W.O.M. WORLD OF MEDICINE AG has acquired the rights for

intraoperative cancer diagnostics. WORLD OF MEDICINE has acquired the patents,

immediately with the worldwide marketing of the product, which has already been
approved by the FDA. Silicon Sensor has committed to long-term supply of sensor

of 2002. In the course of the next three years, WORLD OF MEDICINE expects sales
volume of $ 10 million from the new product field.
In addition, the Managing Board of W.O.M. WORLD OF MEDICINE AG has, effective
immediately, decided to use the authorization to repurchase shares granted by
the annual general stockholders’ meeting on June 20 and giving the company the
right to acquire up to 10 % of the capital stock. In the opinion of the Managing

Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
The ‘Handheld Gammafinder’ represents WORLD OF MEDICINE’s entry into
microsurgical tumor diagnostics, as it makes possible the cost-effective and
fast recognition of malignant tissue structures during the surgical procedure.
In the case of breast cancer, for example, affected lymph nodes can be
selectively removed while healthy ones are left in place.
The simple diagnose of tumor tissue, which can be immediately followed up by
therapeutic measures, supports WORLD OF MEDICINE’s philosophy of promoting
gentle and cost-saving methods of minimally invasive surgery.
WORLD OF MEDICINE and Silicon Sensor intend to transfer this measuring
technology to other minimally invasive applications and enter into close
cooperation in the field of medical technology for future projects. This
cooperation underscores Berlin’s development potential as a location for
innovative, high-tech medicine.
