BGI EcoTech AG / Miscellaneous 11.11.2009 Dissemination of a Corporate News, transmitted by DGAP - a company of EquityStory AG. The issuer / publisher is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- BGI EcoTech AG - Planning permission obtained for major project in Italy/Approvals for large-scale plants with a total output of 15 MWp expected shortly - High level of incoming orders in Germany, Northern and Southern Italy - Strong sales and earnings prospects in 2010/Project pipeline of more than 100 MWp - 2009 Sales and earnings down versus prior year due to postponement of German Small Systems orders and major projects Kassel/Griesheim, 11 November 2009: BGI EcoTech AG today announced the first project approval for a large-scale plant in Sicily following a long and difficult process. A number of additional project approvals for large-scale plants with a capacity of over 15 MWp were also submitted to authorities via ralos Italia. Approval is expected in the coming weeks. In addition, orders with an output of more than 5 MWp were acquired in northern Italy in small-scale and large-scale plant business in recent months by the Ralos Northern Italy subsidiary. A sound and promising market position was achieved in the area of roof-mounted systems for cold storage warehouses. An important Italian mechanical engineering group was also acquired as a major customer whose first order was a plant with an output of 890 kWp. This customer stated that he is planning further PV plants with an output of several MWp in the coming year. Due to the high order book at Ralos Northern Italy the company is expected to operate at a high level of capacity utilisation next year. In Germany order intake in the German Small Systems business is also currently significantly higher than in the previous year, though decisions were delayed throughout August due to continually falling module prices. The market situation has picked up significantly, especially recently, meaning an overwhelming majority of the newly commissioned plants will not be installed until 2010 and will therefore be recognised in sales in the next financial year. The good sales and earnings prospects for the coming year in Germany are also being propelled by major project business. In this area we are close to finalising several orders for PV outdoor plants with a total output of more than 10 MWp. The plants will not be realised until next year due to delays that clearly relate to the economic crisis. Despite the current strong upswing in the markets and the high order backlog, the losses from the first half of the year were not offset. In addition to investment reluctance in the first six months due to the economic situation as well as numerous project delays, the result was also negatively impacted by investments in settlement systems, process efficiency and the expansion of the sales network. In light of these developments, BGI's Board of Directors is assuming a significant decline in sales and a correspondingly negative results for the current financial year. Sales and earnings in the 2010 financial year are expected to improve on the record year of 2008 thanks to the processing of the heavy order backlog, especially in Germany and Italy, and the promising pipeline for projects with a capacity of more than 100 MWp. Shortly, BGI will be publishing an interim announcement on the second half of the year ('Zwischenmitteilung zum 2. Halbjahr') as part of its announced expansion of IR activities. In addition to increasing transparency about its current and future business prospects, BGI would like to further raise the visibility of its business model by fulfilling the financial communication requirements of the General Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
