The issuer / publisher is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schaffhausen, 17 September 2009, 7:00 a.m., Ad hoc Change on the Georg Fischer Board of Directors The Board of Directors of Georg Fischer AG has decided, within the framework of its personnel planning, to propose Andreas Koopmann for election by the shareholders as a new member of the Board to replace Flavio Cotti, who on reaching the retirement age will step down at the 2010 Annual General Meeting. Andreas Koopmann was born in 1951. After taking his degree as a mechanical engineer from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (Dipl. Masch.-Ing ETH), he worked for the Bobst Group SA, Lausanne, from 1982 to 2009. From 1982 to 1989 he was a member of management of the US subsidiary of this Swiss manufacturer of folding carton machines and subsequently headed the Bobst Group as its CEO from 1995 on. Andreas Koopmann is the First Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nestlé and member of the Board of Credit Suisse. As a member of the Executive Committee of Swissmem, he is very familiar with the Swiss engineering industry and is committed to developing Switzerland as an industrial centre and 'think tank'. In Andreas Koopmann, the Board of Directors is putting forward a Swiss entrepreneurial personality who has a track record of many years of international management experience in the industrial sector and who thus makes an ideal addition to the Board of Georg Fischer AG.
