– Thomas Lippert strengthens the fund investment team Berlin, 15 February 2022 – The DVI Group, an owner-managed real estate investor and manager of residential and office real estate in large German cities, strengthens its fund acquisition team. As of 1 January, the company was able to recruit Thomas Lippert, the former Chairman of the Board of Aktionsbund Aktiver Anlegerschutz e.V. (AAA), a German association for the protection of investors’ interests in closed-end funds. Lippert will use his knowledge and contacts in the fund world to facilitate new fund acquisitions for DVI. Since 2011, DVI has acquired stakes in a total of 135 closed-end real estate funds, including majority stakes of more than 50 percent in over half of the funds. The real estate company invests primarily in residential and office properties, but also in logistics and hotel properties. DVI plans to invest large parts of the listed bond (ISIN XS2431964001) placed for the first time in January with a subscription volume of € 350 million in new fund acquisitions. “The acquisition of fund shares in closed-end real estate funds has developed into a steadily growing business segment for us, with which we have been able to continuously increase our own portfolio over the past years. We are therefore delighted to have Thomas Lippert, a proven expert in this field, on our team. With his expertise, we intend to expand our position as one of the leading buyers of shares in closed-end real estate funds across the various asset classes,” comments the DVI management. Most recently, Lippert served as Chairman of the Board of Aktionsbund Aktiver Anlegerschutz e.V. (AAA), representing the interests of investors in closed-end funds. He held the board office for a total of 14 years and resigned from it on December 31, 2021, when he moved to DVI. Lippert is also a member of the advisory board of several real estate funds with properties in Germany and abroad with an investor capital of more than 700 million euros. After his training as a banker at Hypovereinsbank, he completed a part-time degree in business administration with a focus on banking and real estate management. “In my new role, I am looking forward to contributing to DVI’s continued successful corporate development, while at the same time giving more scope to my great personal interest in the real estate business,” says Lippert.
