Evolution within the revolution: ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG produces pellets from organic waste
ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG / Key word(s): Product Launch Evolution within the revolution: ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG produces pellets from organic waste New ‘e-fuel’ for the E3 generator made from hazelnut shells and sunflower seeds Dahlem-Schmidtheim/Düsseldorf. – For its E3 generator – a micro power station which generates electricity, heating and cooling from previously unused biomass – ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG has developed a new fuel, 51% of which consists of hazelnut shells and sunflower seeds. Only the remaining 49% continues to be obtained from wood shavings. “From the very beginning it has been a core element of our concept to apply organic waste for energy generation and to use it in our E3 generator as fuel”, states Julien Uhlig, CEO of ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG. “In food production in particular there are large volumes of natural waste which have previously had to be disposed of in waste incineration facilities or in landfill. There is now a more intelligent and sustainable solution for such types of waste.” A decisive advantage of the new e-fuel is that a significant part of it is not influenced by price developments in relation to classical wood pellets. This is of direct benefit to operators of the micro power stations installed by ENTRADE, a number of which are already in successful operation both within Germany and in other European countries. The synthesis gas generated in the E3 is purified using special filtering technology and then burned in a motor. The power which is generated can be consumed locally or fed into the public grid, while the exhaust heat is used for heating purposes or transformed into cooling. The E3: decentral energy supplies on the basis of natural raw materials In contrast to conventional biogas plants, in which a lengthy fermentation process can mean that it takes 180 days before actual gas production begins, the E3 – a lightweight at only 1 tonne – takes no more than five minutes to produce high quality synthesis gas which is available for immediate use. Driven by a robust 4.3 litre industrial motor the world’s smallest power station produces an electrical output of 22kW and a thermal output of 55kW. This energy is enough, for example, to provide electricity to an apartment block in Germany with 15 to 20 households, or up to 400 persons in emerging countries.
