Kabel BW continued its high growth rate in all product groups during the first nine months of the current year. Once more, total revenue1) reached double-digit growth in 2011 and, compared to previous year, increased by 10.8% to EUR 456.4 million during the first nine months (Jan.-Sep. 2010: EUR 411.9 million). Furthermore, adjusted EBITDA grew even stronger than total revenue1) and rose by 15.3% to EUR 268.1 million (Jan.-Sep. 2010: EUR 232.5 million). Due to Kabel BW’s improvement in profitability, the company achieved an adjusted EBITDA margin of 58.7% for the first time (Jan.-Sep. 2010: 56.5%). Mobile RGUs achieve strong growth Including all product groups (TV, Pay-TV, Telephony, Internet and Mobile), the number of RGUs increased by 477k to 4.3 million compared to the end of September 2010. Kabel BW also recorded a considerable increase of 25% in the number of Internet/Telephony customers at the end of September 2011. A total of 779k customers surfed with a bandwidth of between 12 MBit/s and 100 MBit/s at the end of September 2011 (30.09.2010: 624k). This means that almost every third basic cable customer already uses Internet and telephony services provided by Kabel BW – by far the largest number served by any German cable network provider. Many customers are now also telephoning and surfing the web with Kabel BW’s mobile services: The mobile business expanded by 75k to 76k RGUs (30.09.2010: 1k). The highest growth rate is shown by our Pay-TV business which improved by more than +36% to 353k packages and rental boxes (RGUs) (30.09.2010: 259k). This strong increase mainly results from our own Pay-TV offer (‘Mein TV’), the cooperation with SKY and the HDTV portfolio with 40 HD channels – an absolute record in Germany. The average revenue per customer and month (ARPU) increased in the third quarter of 2011 versus the previous year from EUR 17.8 to EUR 19.3. New customers: Kabel BW grew stronger than ever before ‘We are able to sustain our growth momentum on a high level’, is how Harald Rösch, CEO of Kabel BW, described the situation. Never before, Kabel BW could win more new customers for Internet and telephony services during the last twelve months compared to the same previous periods. ‘It is crucial that our growth brings added value and that our profitability is increased continuously’, Rösch emphasised. Accordingly, the newly created business segment, that is associated with higher revenue and margins per customer, is developing in a highly positive manner. ‘We are gaining more than 300 new customers a month in this highly attractive area of business. These customers appreciate our reliable and high-performance infrastructure as well as our service guarantees’ said Rösch. The company intends to continue its strong growth path in the fourth quarter due to the fastest Internet speeds in Baden-Württemberg, new products such as CleverAll (including Television, Internet, Telephony and Mobile), an expanding Business sector, Video-on-Demand (‘Kabel BW videotheque’), interactive TV and Germany’s largest HDTV range.
