Marimekko boosting its presence in Helsinki city centre
DGAP-News: Marimekko Oyj 2015-04-28 / 08:00 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Marimekko Corporation, Press release, 28 April 2015 at 9.00 a.m. Marimekko is updating its store concept and will open two stores in Helsinki city centre this autumn Marimekko is underpinning its store operations in Helsinki city centre with the opening this autumn of two stores in the city's top business locations. Marimekko's flagship store in the Galleria Esplanad mall will be updated and moved into a new, single-storey space within the shopping centre. The other new store will open in the Forum mall, bringing an awaited boost to add to the city centre stores in the Kamppi mall and on Aleksanterinkatu street. The staff of the present, two-storey flagship store located in Galleria Esplanad will be transferred to the new stores upon the move. 'In choosing store locations, we always emphasise the impact of urban development on customer movement. We constantly monitor customer flows and seek to find locations where we can best serve the customers on their normal routes. Another important point in the selection of these new store locations was the fact that the premises were on street level, which facilitates a clearer and more smoothly functioning customer experience,' says Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, President of Marimekko. 'The Esplanadi area has always been a very important place for Marimekko to meet customers. We are very happy that our flagship store will be updated and moved into a single-storey space in the Galleria Esplanad mall. The space is centrally located and it will be superb in supporting our plans to remodel Marimekko's store concept to make it even more inspiring. In the stylishly renovated Forum mall, we also hope to meet totally new customers. The Forum store, too, will have an excellent location: it will be on street level in one of Helsinki's busiest places,' Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko continues. Marimekko is constantly updating its existing store premises and opening new ones, both abroad and in Finland. 'We want our customers to be able to experience the world of Marimekko's lifestyle in our stores even more interestingly and with better service as well as making our products available to an ever-wider public,' notes Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko. After opening the two stores in autumn 2015, Marimekko will have a total of 15 stores in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
