(Trading Symbol '4IH') announced today that it has screened and selected its first in-house renewable energy project (wind)—'Eastern Ontario 1.' The company will use financing to continue pre-development activities with its Canadian and International project partners for the 10MW project. 'Eastern Ontario 1' marks NexTerra Capital’s expansion into renewable electricity generation in Ontario. The lands chosen are agricultural lands of low quality (class 3 agricultural soil) which means little to no disruption of farming practices for land owners. Additionally, the land is located in one of the few places in the province where capacity exists on transformer stations. Most wind farms seeking funding in Ontario are proposed for locations in South-western Ontario where transmission bottlenecks will occur without foreseeable resolution. 'It’s the best place in the province with consistent wind speed, confirmed grid capacity, and almost no competing land use,' says company CEO, Philip Roe. 'Where there’s no grid—there’s no power sales.' The annual green power yield of 25,056,000 kWh will begin 2012 and be sold to four major sources through power purchase agreements: Ontario Power Authority (OPA), private industry (manufacturing facilities and brokers), and in the USA, New York State Utilities, and private industry. In each scenario, both the Canadian and American governments have new incentive programs in place to encourage the development of renewable energy sources. In Canada, 'ecoEnergy' pays project developers an additional 0.01$/kWh up to 10 years; in the USA, 'REPI' (Renewable Energy Production Incentive) pays 0.019$/kWh. NexTerra Capital trades on the open market on the Deutsche Börse Exchange and is listed on both the Frankfurt and Xetra markets under trading symbol '4IH'.
