BGI already has binding LOIs for the sale of both projects to investors. As the granting of planning permission by the Sicilian authorities was a key condition for the finalisation of the purchase agreements, the Board of Directors expects the agreements to be signed in the near future. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2010. The sales volume for the two plants is expected to be higher than EUR 40 million. 'As one of the two projects is one of the largest open-field photovoltaic plants ever to be approved in Sicily, the projects are extremely demanding in terms of both technical and commercial project management expertise. Once again, we were able to benefit from our know-how in the area of large-scale plant engineering and our local presence. From site identification, securing the rights to the project and the implementation of the approval procedure right through to the execution of the project, we can offer end-to-end services via our subsidiary Ralos Italia Srl. Procurement is performed by our head office in Germany. The plan is to construct the projects using Moser Baer modules. In light of the positive response to our projects at present, we are confident that we will be able to participate in the booming Italian market to a significant extent,' commented Albert Klein, CEO of BGI EcoTech AG. Based on its strong order backlog and sales success, BGI is reiterating its forecast of a substantial improvement in both sales and earnings in the 2010 financial year compared with the record figures reported in 2008. The project pipeline currently has a volume in excess of 100MWp.
