Following operations, coagulation can lead to life-threatening vascular occlusion. Therefore patients are injected with heparin at least once a day, if required. In most cases this injection is considered to be extremely painful. The study, which was carried out at the University of Göttingen, proved that a virtually painfree and safe thrombosis prophylaxis is possible using the INJEX- system. The heparin used in the study is Fragmin produced by Pharmacia AB. Rösch AG closed a contract with this company at the beginning of 2001 on the use of the INJEX-system in the area of growth hormones. Thrombosis has become a focus of interest in the past months even with regard to long-distance flights. Currently airlines are examining whether planes for flights are to be equipped with heparin. However, as flight personnel are not allowed to administer injections without the proper qualifications, the needle- free injection by Rösch AG may just be the solution.
