South Pacific BioFuels PLC / Key word(s): Miscellaneous 19.03.2012 / 12:07 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Initial 200 Ha demonstration project based on polyculture agro-forestry production of both food and fuel to support a sustainable green village in Haiti followed with a farm in the Caribbean that could produce an estimated 5 million liters of NEO - Fuel (Non-Edible Oil Fuel) per year. London, England. - South Pacific BioFuels PLC (Frankfurt: BF8.F), has entered into an Agreement with the Jatropha Foundation for the growth, production and distribution of Jatropha based (Non-Edible Oil) NEO-Fuel. The Jatropha Foundation is a U.S. not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development of a globally sustainable Jatropha green energy 'NEO-Fuel' sector. Jatropha fuel production capacity is expanding around the equator and will move into the implementation of rural development projects and sustainability initiatives for domestic production systems. The Agreement is based on both companies jointly participating in Haiti to create and showcase a 200 Ha demonstration sustainable NEO-Fuel production system and village; followed by a Jatropha farm and NEO-Fuel production facility. This production system is expected to create viable quantities of Jatropha fuel oil, and assist in meeting the energy needs of Haiti. The initial farm can is planned to produce an estimated 5,000,000 litres of NEO-Fuel annually and will be located on fallow land in either the Dominican Republic or Haiti. Our growth strategy is to create positive job creation opportunities in developing nations for a sustainable economic model while embracing a socially responsible platform for Jatropha. The Jatropha Foundation will collaborate with industry and agronomy professionals to design a model for sustainable production of Jatropha NEO-Fuel. By developing a sustainable production model, we can meet global demands for Jatropha energy by focusing on low-energy production systems coupled with socially responsible economic systems in specific regions. We plan to develop socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable energy production systems that are both profitable and capable of supplying local and regional energy markets with NEO-Fuel. South Pacific BioFuels' CEO Mark Zouvas stated that, 'This is a significant watershed event for South Pacific BioFuels and for the people of Haiti and the Caribbean. We plan to not only grow Jatropha successfully, but also foster a social approach to cultivate the employment and educational merits for Haiti's vegetable oil industry.'
