Admission to the sustainability index of the Swiss stock exchange
The Swiss Prime Site share (SPSN) will be admitted to the SXI Switzerland Sustainability 25® index of the Swiss stock exchange on 19 September 2022. The index comprises 25 companies and is one of the most important sustainability indices in Switzerland. The basis for the inclusion is the membership in the SMI Expanded Index as well as the highest possible sustainability rating of the rating provider Inrate, defined by SIX Swiss Exchange. This is based on more than 100 quantitative and qualitative factors. René Zahnd, CEO of Swiss Prime Site, comments: «Sustainability is the basis for our long-term success and forms the foundation for the resilience of our company. This is one of the cornerstones of stability, particularly in the current economically challenging times. The admission to the index confirms our strategy of making this important topic an integral part of our governance. In particular, we are proud to be the first representative of our industry and to rank 7th among the top 25 companies in the Swiss stock exchange's sustainability index. This also encourages us to question our linear economic order even more intensively and to focus more on circular economy.»
Long track record of sustainability at Swiss Prime Site
Sustainability has been embedded in the Board of Directors, Group Management and the entire company for many years. Adding value and creating living spaces sustainably is the vision of Swiss Prime Site. In this context, value creation is understood as a comprehensive, multi-dimensional concept in which non-financial aspects are taken into account in addition to the fulfillment of financial targets. Various initiatives are pursued in the areas of environment, social and governance (ESG). These include, for example, a clearly defined CO2 reduction pathway. Its goal is to achieve climate neutrality in the portfolio of around 180 properties and 1.7 million square meters of floor space by 2040. Further, by the end of 2022, around 75% of the portfolio's floor space will have a BREEAM In-use certificate. In addition, the company's financing and management compensation are linked to clear sustainability targets.
