September 1, 2019 United Engine Corporation (part of Rostec State Corporation) presented a full-size model of the newest Russian aircraft engine of the new generation PD-14, designed for the MC-21 airliner, at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019. The engine is certified by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), which confirms the compliance of PD-14 with the airworthiness and environmental standards of the Russian Federation and indicates the readiness for installing the engine in an aircraft. The PD-14 engine is developed in a joint cooperation of the UEC’s enterprises for the narrow-body mid-range aircraft MC-21-300 using the latest technologies and materials, including composite ones. In 2018, a certificate of the Rosaviatsiya type was issued for the PD-14 engine. Currently, work is underway to validate this certificate by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Production of PD-14 is also planned to be certified according to the requirements of the Federal Air Transport Agency and EASA. The lead contractor for the PD-14 program is UEC JSC, the lead developer is UEC-Aviadvigatel JSC (Perm), the head manufacturer is UEC-Perm Engines JSC. The model of PD-14, demonstrated at MAKS-2019, contains engine nacelle assemblies made of polymer composite materials (PCM), gas generator casing elements, as well as hollow titanium fan blades, etc. The model of PD-14 is fully consistent with the engine currently undergoing flight tests to expand operating conditions. The visitors of the air show were able to see another PD-14 engine on the wing of the IL-76LL flying laboratory, which was demonstrated as part of a static exhibition. During test flights, this unique stand makes it possible to online monitor over 2,000 engine parameters on board the aircraft and on the ground simultaneously. United Engine Corporation JSC (part of Rostec Corporation) is an integrated company specializing in the development, mass production and maintenance of engines for aviation, space programs and marine applications, as well as for oil and gas industry and power industry. One of the priority activities of UEC is the implementation of integrated programs for the development of the industry enterprises with the introduction of new technologies that meet international standards.
