Current exploration focus is on projects in La Rioja and Jujuy. URANIO’S EXPLORATION TEAM Uranio’s field crew, under the direction of Ing. Juan Orozco, includes Lic. Hugo Peyreira and Sr. Alberto Stepanenko. Overall supervision is provided by Dr. Colin Godwin, Director of South America Exploration, and Dr. Peter Christopher, world-wide uranium consultant and Advisor to Uranio. CURRENT AREAS OF PRIORITY Work is currently focused on the Olta-Malanzan uranium property in La Rioja and on the Huacalera thorium-uranium property in Jujuy. These two priority areas are described briefly below. The Olta-Malanzan uranium property has significant showings of unconformity-type uranium mineralization in basal rocks to a channel of Carboniferous-Permian sedimentary rocks. This channel is underlain by metamorphic and granitic rocks of the Sierra de Chepes uplift. The Huacalera thorium-uranium property is centered on a carbonatite. Visible gold in veins and base-metal occurrences have been noted outside of the carbonatite intrusive. Evaluation of these areas is continuing systematically. Follow-up of uranium showings on the many other properties proceeds at a lower priority as time is available CONCLUSIONS Uranium exploration in Argentina offers exciting opportunities for major discoveries of new uranium mines. Results from the focused exploration in the Olta-Malanzan concessions in La Rioja, and from the Huacalera concessions in Jujuy, will be reported as appropriate.
