This will lead to the consortium holding 100% of QSIL's shares. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. 'QSIL is an absolute success story that epitomises the investment philosophy of Ventizz: cutting edge technology with a clear unique selling point and a high real net output ratio will, together with the management, continue to be developed on an ongoing basis and positioned on the world market. Full order books give the company today very solid foundations, and investors in the Ventizz III fund can be very happy with earning five times their invested capital,' said Dr. Helmut Vorndran, Managing Partner and CEO of Ventizz Capital Partners Advisory AG which advised solely the investment fund. Dr. Vordran will continue to hold a seat on QSIL's supervisory board in order to ensure continuity in the company's development. With the support of Ventizz, which has been majority shareholder of QSIL since 2006, the quartz glass specialist based in Ilmenau has built up a global customer base and is now an established and leading provider on the world market. Production capacities in Thüringen have been increased by 50% over the past five years. In addition, the company almost doubled its turnover in 2010 to EUR 23m, representing very satisfactory profitability as compared against the sector as a whole. To support the financing of future growth, QSIL has not paid out dividends in recent years. With QSIL, one of the last remaining portfolio companies in the III fund has been successfully placed in the market. Stephan Behr, CEO of QSIL AG: 'With Ventizz's knowhow of finance and of corporate and strategic matters we have managed to take the decisive step up to the first division of our sector. For the next step we will continue to grow organically and expand our production, which is currently operating at full capacity, in line with demand. We are also ready to add complementary technologies to our portfolio.' QSIL AG Quarzschmelze Ilmenau is an innovative, globally-operating company in special glass production which is one of the few quartz glass manufacturers to specialise in the production of round shapes and special products. QSIL's plasma fusion method which was developed in-house makes it the only producer worldwide which can make hollow cylinders out of quartz glass in a single production step. Its most important markets are the semi-conductor, photovoltaic and light sources industries, as well as the chemical industry for analysis and for the production of polysilicon.
