Westhouse Medical Services sells AST Ambulance Service business Confirms intention to enter US market through majority control of Sunridge International LONDON, UK, 12th March 2012 – Healthcare specialist Westhouse Medical Services Plc ('Ticker Symbol 5WM') today announces it has sold its AST Ambulance Services business to a management buyout team for UK £2.75m. The MBO team is led by AST's current operations director, Stewart Lawson. AST Ambulance Services provides specialist transport and ambulance services for the NHS in the UK. Jack Kaye, founder and CEO of Westhouse Medical said, 'We wish Stewart and his team all the best in the future in taking the AST business forward.' On 8th March Westhouse Medical announced that it intended to expand into US market by entering negotiations to acquire majority control of Sunridge International. The glaucoma treatment specialist will be the second acquisition by Westhouse's medical devices division, following the purchase of US and UK patents for the Profemme breast cancer screening technology from the Battlebridge Group Limited in November 2011. Westhouse Medical is currently developing and will be launching in 2012 BreastCheck, a breast scanning device which can act as an effective, low-cost precursor to mammogram screening. ~ends~
